Sweetheart Strawberry & Banana Dog Treats: A Valentine for Your Pup

Love is in the air, and what better way to show your furry best friend some affection than with these Sweetheart Strawberry & Banana Dog Treats? These adorable, heart-shaped goodies are packed with wholesome ingredients and a touch of sweetness to make your pup’s tail wag with joy. Let’s dive into the recipe and treat our four-legged valentines!

Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need:

2 cups oat flour (or blended oats)

1 ripe banana, mashed

1/2 cup fresh strawberries, finely chopped

1 large egg

1 tablespoon honey (optional, for extra sweetness)

Instructions

1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This will keep the treats from sticking and make cleanup a breeze.

2. Mash & Mix: Grab a bowl and mash the banana until it’s nice and smooth. Stir in the egg, honey (if using), and chopped strawberries until everything is well combined. This fruity mixture will have your kitchen smelling amazing!

3. Add Flour: Gradually add the oat flour, mixing until a soft, workable dough forms. If it feels sticky, don’t worry – just sprinkle in a bit more oat flour until it’s just right.

4. Roll & Shape: On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. Now comes the fun part: use heart-shaped cookie cutters to create the cutest dog treats ever. Your pup might not notice the shape, but you definitely will!

5. Bake: Place your heart-shaped creations on the baking sheet and pop them in the oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the treats are firm and slightly golden.

6. Cool Completely: Patience is key! Let the treats cool on a wire rack before offering one to your dog. Hot treats aren’t fun for anyone.

7. Storage: Keep these love-filled snacks fresh by storing them in an airtight container for up to a week. Want to make them last longer? Freeze them for up to three months and thaw as needed.

Happy baking!
